Our Caterpillar Curriculum

The curriculum delivered at Caterpillar Nursery & PreSchool is designed to recognise children’s prior learning from home and previous settings. We work in partnership with families, other settings and other professions to provide the best possible start to children’s life long learning, ensuring each individual reaches their full potential outcome, from their various starting points.

Every child is unique and we believe that every single one of them brings their own values to our environment. We celebrate and welcome differences within our community, and support children in building resilience and autonomy. Given that we are a smaller environment, we pursue the opportunities to work with our local community, including inter-generational work with Cubbington Mill Care Home and Music with “Guitar Man”.

We believe that high quality engagement from practitioners, leads to high quality learning through play. We strive to provide a curriculum that maximises meaningful opportunities, ensuring that every child has a depth of knowledge within the educational programmes, rather than a superficial awareness.

Our Mission Statement

“The curriculum at Caterpillar naturally creates the foundation in supporting children to become socially mobile, recognising their part in society.

Supporting each unique child by catching them in the moment, practitioners enhance purposeful play, allowing children to experience the awe and wonder of the world in which they live.

Nurturing children through daily interactions promotes confidence and communication; leading to a generation with a valid voice to impart effective change within their communities.”
